His Majesty the King of Bhutan, Jigme Singye Wangchuk inaugurated the Chair of Mahayana Buddhism and donated an endowment fund.     The Department of hindi was started on 14 February 2006 with a student strength of 10 and Dr.Shaik Moulali as academic coordinator . During the academic year 2006-2007 M.A. Hindi was started with a student strength of 16 and Dr.Moulali started M.A. Hindi classes. Later Pros P.Adeswara Rao was appointed as visiting Professor and coordinator on 12-02-2007. During 2007-2008, 20 students joined M.A. Hindi. All the students of the first batch passed M.A. in first class and 9 secured distinction among them. A separate building, is being constructed, called "Hindi Bhavan".
