Prof. K.V.S.Sastry, who was the first Head of the Department, was a Ph.D. from Oxford University who studied under Prof. John Hicks. He was also a visiting fellow for Wisconsin University. He was also the former principal of Andhra University Post-Graduate Centre. Prof. C. Subbarayudu was who a former Principal of Nagarjuna University. He distinguished himself by being the member of Board of Management of Sri Krishna Devaraya University and Sri Venkateswara University. Prof. G. Raghava Reddy, a former Special Officer of Sri Venkateswara University P.G. Center also worked as Reader in Economics in Nagarjuna University.

Prof.K.V.Vani who worked for a decade in Nagarjuna University is currently working as a professor and Chairperson of Department of Business and Economics in the University of Nabranka at Kerney, USA. Dr.D,Nata who worked in Nagarjuna University during 1978-80 is currently at the Centre for Development Studies in Trivandram.

Prof.C.S.N. Raju been working in the Department since 1975 and acted as Head during 1987-89 and Chairman during 2001-03. He has worked in Ethopia civil Source College Addis Ababa Ethiopia during 1995-2000 under UNDP project. His specialisation is commercial bankjng. 2 Ph.D. and 6 M.Phil. Degrees. Prof. N.Sudhakara Rao has attended international Seminars in USA, Australia and Italy. He is working in the Department since 1979 and Produced 1 Ph.D. and 8 M.Phils. His Specialisation is Population Studies. He has 80 publications to his credit.
