Department of Geology

The Geology Department was established in 1985 in Nagarjuna University with the appointment of faculty members. It is guided by an objective to impart good quality of education in M.Sc. Geology course and promote user-friendly research activities in different disciplines of geology. The faculty equipped with the knowledge of international quality in modern subjects and the enthusiasm is striving relentlessly to achieve the goals. The pursuits of research work of the faculty since a couple of decades or so are mostly oriented towards sustainable development in thrust areas and environmental issues. The students going out with their degrees from this department are settled in well-established organizations which resulted in earning dubious distinction to geology department. Currently the department is coordinating M.Sc. course and M.Phil and PhD programmes. The Central Labs in the campus are facilitating required infrastructure ranging from advanced to ultra sophisticated instruments to the need of research fraternity of all departments. The libraries in the geology department as well as central facility in the university campus are supported with vast volumes of books, research magazines, periodicals, memoirs etc., The rich culture, good traditions and friendly nature in this academic environment are behind the curtains for the success and growth of the Nagarjuna University campus.
