The Department of Chemical Engineering is the youngest department of Indian School of Mines; it was established in November 2010. Department of Chemical Engineering aims to provide advanced teaching and research facilities to the students to enable them to create and apply innovative technologies in Chemical, Process and energy based industries as well as efficiently utilizes their knowledge and skills to find solutions of problems related to such industry.

Department of Chemical Engineering will offer IV Year Bachelor of Technology programme from the academic year 2011. Though the Department of Chemical Engineering has established only recently but many courses and activity related to chemical engineering field is going on since last 35 years. Active research work is going on in the different fields of chemical engineering since many years.

BOCS of Department of Chemical Engineering includes imminent Professors from IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, IT BHU, Aligargh Muslim University, Jadavpur University and executives from Coal India Ltd and IOC Ltd.
