Department of Applied Geophysics
The Department of Applied Geophysics was established in 1957. Over the subsequent years it grew to be one of the premier Departments with qualified and competent faculty. Deptt. of Applied Geophysics offer three years’ course on M. Sc. Tech. (Applied Geophysics), with average intake of 50 students per year.The Deptt. offers five years' integrated course on M. Sc. Tech. (Applied Geophysics), with average intake of 15 students through IIT-JEE per year The Deptt. also offers two years’ M.Tech. (Petroleum Exploration) programme jointly with the Deptt. of Applied Geology, Indian school of Mines. Placement is mostly through campus and off-campus interviews in Oil, Mineral, Groundwater exploration sectors as well as in R&D organisations. On a short range, the Department also provides expert services for societal needs such as ground water exploration and coal mining problems.
