Department of Geology
The Postgraduate Department of Geology, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur was established in 1946 and celebrated its Diamond Jubilee in 2006. The Department imparts teaching leading to postgraduate degrees, i.e. M. Sc. Geology- Four Semester Choice Based Credit System and M. Sc. (Tech) Applied Geology- Six Semester Choice Based Credit System with intake capacity of 20 students for both courses and research guidance culminating into M. Phil. and Ph.D. degrees. The research work in the Department is being carried out in Petrology, Geochemistry, Applied Micropaleontology, Limnogeology, Hydrogeology, Petroleum Geology, Environmental Geology, Ore Geology etc. The infrastructure facilities, for both teaching and research, in the Department were boosted due to sanctioning.

Eligibility
For admission to the M. Sc. Semester-I Course in Geology and M. Sc. (Tech.) Semester -I Applied Geology, the candidate must have passed the B.Sc. Examination with Geology as one of the subject of the Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto, are eligible to admission, provided they have secured an aggregate of not less than 45% marks at the B. Sc. Examination.
