The Post graduate teaching department of education is founded in the year 1977 to promote excellence in teacher education. The department is providing training to trainee teachers to enhance their personality traits, teaching skills, academic achievements, professional efficacy for enlightened living. Other than academic excellence our aim is to produce Inspiring, Creative & Innovative teacher. Need based scientifically structured programs for over all development. We offer high quality education, strong Moral, cultural & value based training to cater the needs of society.

Admission

=> Admission Process-
=> Centralized as per Govt. rules.
Admission shall be made on merit on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/or in the entrance examination or in accordance with any other procedure as per the policy of the state government/university.

Eligibility:

Candidate with at least fifty percent marks (50%) in the Bachelor‘s degree and B.Ed. from any recognized statutory university are eligible for admission to the programme The reservation and relaxation of SC/ST/OBC/PWD and other categories shall be as per the rules of the central government, whichever is applicable.

Graduate/Post graduate in any discipline with B.Ed.(Bachelor of education ), CET Entrance test

Research

The department has a separate research cell which is well equipped with an extensive collection of theses, dissertations and books on research methodology. The department is recognized as a research centre for conducting doctoral studies in education by the RTM Nagpur University.

Research is undertaken to bridge the gap between theory and practice. The aim of all research initiatives undertaken in the department is to develop our practices by analyzing existing practices and identifying elements/processes for change. This process enables us to enhance the professional competencies.

As a leading department of teacher education, it is our constant endeavor to adopt new methods, techniques, strategies to communicate better with the aspiring learners so that all these skills and attitudes developed over a period of time can be transmitted to the upcoming new age learners. The most explored areas are methods of teaching, various strategies of teaching, team teaching, co-operative learning techniques, drill and assignments, impact and effectiveness of technology and various ICT resources, studying various psychological traits, testing psychological theories etc.

The department also maintains and enhances the quality of its programs by taking continuous and comprehensive feedback during the academic year. Student teachers’ responses and reflections are scientifically gathered and systematically and statistically analyses to make relevant decisions. Thus the institution uses research methodology to improve quality of its academic and non-academic programs. Apart from this, the faculty is involved in conducting research on important emerging issues of education.

Library

In addition to the Central Library, a well-equipped departmental library is functioning in the Post graduate teaching department of Education, catering to the needs of the faculty, research scholars and PG students with a seating capacity of 50. The department library occupies a unique status in academic and research activities of the department. It is perhaps the most important essential facility provided to meet the informational needs and intellectual pursuit of Learners. The library serves as a central organ of academic activity in the Department. The Department has a rich & vast collection of more than 3000 books, journals and reports. It also has collection of all M.Ed. dissertations and Ph.D. thesis. The library maintains an excellent collection of books, research journals and other documents/materials. The Library has a well equipped facility for reading. The departmental library aims at providing access to its printed resources such as books and journals as well as electronic journals and online databases primarily for the use of research scholars and faculty members. The library has computer facility with NKN internet connectivity, which provides instant access to a number of information sources which include books, reports, journals, video films, sound recording and wide variety of other sources. Apart from the departmental library services, the students, research scholars and faculty also have the facility of University main library. The stock details are as follows:

Co-curricular Activities:
Co-curricular activities facilitate in the development of various domains of mind and such as intellectual development, emotional development, social development, moral development and aesthetic development. CCAs are non-academic activities that all student teachers must participate in. This is a means to enhance social interaction, leadership, healthy recreation, self-discipline and self-confidence, Creativity, Enthusiasm, and Energetic, Positive thinking are some of the facets of personality development and the outcomes of Co-curricular activities. Placement

Placement Cell:
The Post Graduate Teaching Department of Education prepares teacher trainers for all levels of education from primary to higher secondary, till PG level . Many of the alumni of the Department are highly placed in reputed schools / colleges /Universities/ organizations across the country and overseas. The department prepares teacher trainers to be competent to teach both locally and globally. teacher trainers are encouraged to explore their unique talents and potentials and be culturally conscious.
We provide our teachers with the professional development and support that they need to succeed. Our faculty members are always available to support the student teachers and help them excel in their new environments.

Alumni

Association:
The Post Graduate Teaching Department of Education RTM Nagpur University has an active and functional Alumni Association. Our aim is to provide a forum for interaction and networking between the ex-students of our department and present. Many of the Alumni are leaders in the field of education in India and overseas. The Alumni Association meets twice a year, once in the start of the academic year and once in January. The activities of the Association include organization of seminars, workshops, short courses and get-togethers.
