Master of Science in Mathematics (M.Sc.Mathematics), is a two years Postgraduate Mathematics degree course in India.The course focuses on the interface between pure mathematics, To cultivate a mathematical attitude and nurture the interests and motivate for research in mathematical and statistical sciences. To train computational scientists who can work on real life challenging problems. The mathematical side concentrates on areas where computers are used, or which are relevant to computer science, namely algebraic, general topology, number theory, combinatorics, and logic.
The study emphasis on research thesis and quantity, structure, space and changes in mathematical patterns and formulate new conjectures. The master’s study develops the abilities to approach problems in an analytical and rigorous way and to formulate theories and apply them to solve problems, and present mathematical arguments and conclusions with accuracy and clarity and candidates are also able to handle and analyze large quantities of data, clear Logical thinking is necessary for it.
The study is focused on theoretical and practical aspects of Principles and Techniques in an academic discipline such as Advanced Abstract Algebra, Real Analysis, Advanced, Advanced Differential Equations,Differential Geometry, Dynamics of a Rigid Body, Linear Algebra, Topology, Hydrodynamics, Linear and Nonlinear Programming Basic Concepts, Advanced Concepts of Probability, Differential Equations, Discrete Mathematics, Advance Concept of Linear Algebra.
The candidate has to complete Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) with an additional subject such as Mathematics, or equivalent examination, with minimum aggregate 60% marks, such candidates are eligible to take admission in Master’s Degree professional study program.
This course requires study requires 2 year of the time period in India, It’s a Full Time professional degree course, but some candidates use part time, correspondence education program and also go for distance learning study option to earn this degree.
After the successful completion of master’s degree course, candidates can pursue for, M.Phil in Mathematics, Ph.D. (Doctorate in Mathematics) Degree or do specialization and research oriented work in their respective field.
