The “Make in India” movement has begun and a new breed of engineers is required to fulfil the need of Indian industries. Automation and Robotics will be one of the main drivers for this movement. The KLETECH started state’s first bachelor’s degree course in Automation and Robotics in the year 2009 with an intake of 30 students.
The Automation and Robotics program prepares students for design, interface, installation and troubleshooting of industrial automation systems. Emphasis is on electronics, electrical controls, motors, programmable logic controllers, servo systems, robotics, hydraulics and pneumatics, and mechanical systems. Students integrate electronics and electrical controls with mechanical systems and programmable controllers and explore alternative trade-offs in the process of problem-solving and troubleshooting.
Graduating engineers will be competent to work and excel in national and international companies working on innovative technical projects. The department has state of the art laboratories which strive hard to meet the industry standards. In this direction the department has signed an MOU with Bosch Rexroth, Germany to setup a centre for competency in industrial automation and centre for competency in PC based automation with Beckhoff Automation India Pvt. Ltd.
