Diploma in Pharmacy (DPharm)

Diploma Pharmacy (DP) - Pharmacy is the health profession that links the health sciences with the chemical sciences and it is charged with ensuring the safe and effective use of pharmaceutical drugs. Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm), is a two years Undergraduate Diploma Pharmacy Course in India. Pharmacy is a Medical Field involved in the preparation, dispensing and appropriate use of medication for therapeutic purposes. The scope of pharmacy practice includes more traditional roles such as compounding and dispensing medications, and it also includes more modern services related to health care, including clinical services, reviewing medications for safety and efficacy, and providing drug information. The Pharmacy education program are regulated and monitored by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), This Diploma course only provide basic knowledge of Pharmacy Science. The study program is designed to develop basic knowledge and skills of pharmacy practice including traditional roles such as compounding and dispensing medications, modern services related to health care, clinical services, reviewing medications and drug information. The study is focused on theoretical and practical aspects of basic pharmacy in academic discipline of, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Biochemistry & Clinical Pathology, Human Anatomy & Physiology, Health Education & Community Pharmacy, Pharmacology & Toxicology, Drug Store and Business Management, Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence. Eligibility : The candidates should have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) Education or an Equivalent Examination, for Science stream and additional subjects like, Physics, Chemistry, Biology,and English, minimum 50% marks are eligible for pursuing in this program.

Course Duration / Learning Mode

The bachelor diploma course requires 2 years of time period in India. It's a full time study program, but some institutes also provides part time learning facilities. There are number of recognized Universities Worldwide offering online study program and distance learning option in certain criteria.

Further Studies

The study program provide basic knowledge and practical skill after the successful completion of the program candidates can also pursue for higher studies and do Master of Pharmacy (M. Pharm).

Career Options

After the successful completion of Pharmacy Diploma and Registering with the State pharmacy Council (SPC), one can start their own Pharmacy or Chemist shop to stock and sell medicines.Diploma holder have an ample career opportunities in field like Health Centers, Hospitals, Chemist Shop, Drug Control Administration, Pharmaceutical Firms, Educational Institutes, Sales and Marketing Department, research Agencies, Food and Drug Administration. One can recognized as Pharmacist and work as, Production Executive, Quality Analyst, Medical Transcriptionist, Production Supervisor, Quality Control Executive, etc.
