The Department of Chemistry, established in 1996, has been imparting training at advanced level of Chemistry in general to produce M.Sc., M.Phil and Ph.D. scholars. The research interests of the Faculty cover areas like Liquid Crystals, Micelles & Macromolecules, Co-ordination Chemistry & Bioinorganic Chemistry, Theoretical and Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Natural Products and Medicinal Chemistry. The Department organizes Refreshers Course, Workshop and Conferences with support from national level scientific organizations and societies. A number of research projects sponsored by UGC, DST, GBPIHED and DRDO have been undertaken by the faculty. A DST-sponsored project FIST has been granted to the Department for a FT-IR equipment and computers with LAN. Two UGC sponsored research fellowship in Science for meritorious studens are available in the department.

ii] M.Phil (by course work & dissertation). Duration : Three Semesters. No. of seats : 13
iii] Pre-Ph.D. Duration : One Semester No. of seats : 20
