  • Government launched the scheme Shiksha ka Haq under which every child was entitled to quality education. Now it is subsidy on educational loans. It is really a great move by the government, with the increase in cost of living it is really difficult for the family with limited means to educate their child. Now with the launch of this subsidy a lot of avenues are open for students willing to study technical and professional courses.

  • HRD Minister Kapil Sibal is going to present bill for bringing few reforms in the higher education sector. Previously the bill was opposed by the opposition and the ruling party. Kapil sibal has planned to call a meeting with the MP's of other political parties to discuss education reforms so that there was no delay in passing of the bill in the parliament and to avoid any opposition.

  • Amitabh Bacchan was awarded the honorary doctorate degree for his contribution to indian film industry. He was awarded by Queensland university of Technology. He turned down the award two years back due to attacks on Indian student. Amitabh Bacchan has acted in more than 180 films, over 40 years and is most popular actor. He said he expects the ties between India and Australia to strengthen with the acceptance of this award. He said education stands above caste, creed , race and religion.

  • A year long campaign has been launched for Right to education where headmasters from 13 lakhs primary school will be reading out Prime minister, Manmohan Singh's message on November 11, 2011. The message has been translated in to 14 Indian languages so that it touches the heart of the Indian masses. Shiksha Ka Haq or Right to education will set history as it involves lakhs of Volunteers and hundreds of community based organizations to participate in the door to door campaign till 11th November 2012.

  • All India Council for Technical Education ( AICTE ) had come up with the unique idea to conduct Common Management Aptitude Test ( CMAT ) for admission to all AICTE approved management colleges for MBA courses and post graduate diploma in business administration. It was a great move as students had to appear for one single exam and not multiple exams. But the idea was challenged in court, thus AICTE will be conducting the regular CMAT exam in the year 2012 and students will have to appear for multiple entrance test.

The website has been exclusively designed for the Indian audience. The score is considered by most of the B Schools for admission procedure and placement. It is a great move to launch an official website just for Indian audience. The website carries video testimonials and the path to preparing for GMAT to land up at a good B school.

  • US is keen on removing barriers that limits the American educational institutions from setting up campuses in India. William Burns said US schools want to partner with India and set up institutions here. Foreign Educational Institution (Regulation of Entry and Operation) Bill, 2010 is still pending with the parliament and is approved by the cabinet. According to the bill any institution willing to set up campus in India will have to go through a process of scrutiny.

  • Tasmac ( Training and Advanced Studies in Management and Communication Limited ) which runs private institutes in Pune, Kolkata and Bangalore successfully sets overseas institute in London in 2002. Due to changing visa policies of US government the institute was receiving less students. According to the new visa policy students studying in private institutes cannot work part time and discontinuation of post study work visa. The institute declared bankruptcy and shut down. The institute runs BA ( Hons ) and 16 months MBA program.

  • NR Narayan Murthy, chairman, Infosys says “Quality of students is deteriorating at IIT's”. According to him the problem is due to coaching institutes which prepares a candidate for selective problems which are asked in IIT entrance test. This helps in clearing the entrance test but leads to poor performance in educational and employment front. The candidates who works hard and learn all types of problem solving techniques does better than a coached candidate.
