All India Council for Technical Education ( AICTE ) had come up with the unique idea to conduct Common Management Aptitude Test ( CMAT ) for admission to all AICTE approved management colleges for MBA courses and post graduate diploma in business administration. It was a great move as students had to appear for one single exam and not multiple exams. But the idea was challenged in court, thus AICTE will be conducting the regular CMAT exam in the year 2012 and students will have to appear for multiple entrance test.
AICTE took the move for conducting one single entrance test to reduce stress and financial burden of students. However, the idea was not accepted by the B-schools and various organizations like Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS) and the Society for Promotion of Education in India challenged the move in the court of law.
Now there will be no changes to multiple entrance test conducted for admission to MBA Colleges.
