University College of Physical Education

While upholding the vision and mission of the University, College of Physical Education embossed into training of teachers and leaders through Health, Physical Education, Sports and Recreational activities in order to accomplish the over all educational values attributed to Physical, Mental and Spiritual harmony and total wellbeing of all those who participate. Realizing the importance of the physical culture for the school and college going youth the Government of Karnataka Started a College of Physical Education in 1959, (Residential in nature.) In the year 1968, the Government College of physical education got affiliated to the Bangalore University. Later, this diploma course was upgraded to that of a Bachelor of physical education (B.P.Ed) programme in 1971 under the leadership of late Prof.N.C.Parappa. In the year 1972, a postgraduate degree in physical education (M.P.Ed.) was started. The Government College of Physical Education was transferred to Bangalore University in the year 1976. Since then, the college is one of its constituent colleges. The Ph.D programme was introduced in the year 1977.
