Center for Rural Development Studies
Centre for Rural Development Studies was established during the academic year 1980-81. Professor T.K.Laxman and Professor. A.Kalappa, are the pioneers to establish this Centre. Sri Begane Ramaiah, the then Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development inaugurated the Centre at Senate Hall, Central College Campus, Bangalore. Since then the centre has been effectively conducting its academic activities. So far, the Centre has produced 640 graduates in M.A. Rural Development. 8 candidates have completed their M.Phil Degree and 15 candidates have been awarded Ph.D. degree. During the year 2005-06 the Centre celebrated the Silver Jubilee year. As part of the Silver Jubilee year celebration academic programs like, Seminars, Debates, Topical Discussions, Village Visiting Programs, Socio-economic Survey of Villages in Kolar and Bangalore Rural District were conducted. CORE VALUES: To provide honest and value based education. Strengthening the hands of Rural Development and Panchyat Raj Institutions, Upliftment of the rural Poor.
