Department Of Social Work

With the rapid industrialization of the district and massive land acquisition by the industries, the phenomenon of labour migrancy and issues of rehabilitation and relocation, employment generation for the displaced have become matters of concern. The Department of Social Work, through its project work and course design as well, will tackle these issues and generate socio-economic studies useful to the public and the Government.

Similarly, Disaster Management will be one of the constituent units of the MSW course, given the long coastline and the frequency of occurrence of cyclones and the rapidity with which rehabilitation exercises have to be organized as a major crisis management issue. A number of Government departments have come forward to lend support for the execution of project studies by this Department in view of the analytical components it can bring to bear on its inquiry and the database that it can provide.
