Located in His Holiness Sankaracharya Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Mahaswamigal had the vision of reviving the Gatikasthana (traditional University of Kanchi as Nalanda in the north) through modern temples of learning. In addition to a number of Patasalas (Vedic Schools) run by Sri Sankara Mutt, the first of its kind being SRI SANKARA ARTS & SCIENCE COLLEGE, founded to provide quality higher education to the rural folk and to promote among the youth,the highest and loftiest ideals that constitute the essence of our culture., Since its inception in 1991, the college has seen phenomenal and qualitative growth. Affiliated to the University of Madras, it offers select undergraduate and postgraduate courses with premier faculty in first-rate scholarly and research environments.
