2. A Brief history of the Department :
The department was established in the erstwhile S.V.U. P.G. centre, Anantapur in the year 1967. It is one of the five oldest departments of the University. The department started with four teachers – 1 Reader and 3 lecturers. Gradually the department has developed to the present status of 4 Professors, 3 Associate Professors and 2 Assistant Professors.
The department taught eight papers (four previous and four final) in the beginning, but now the department is teaching fourteen papers.
