Year of Establishment of the Department : 1985 2 A brief history of the Department

Department of Microbiology was established in November 1985 on the recommendations of 6th Plan UGC Visiting Committee and is approved and funded by UGC. The department has been offering two year Post-Graduate programme in Microbiology and also research programmes leading to M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in Microbiology.

The department has facilities to undertake research in Soil Microbiology, Microbial Physiology, Immunology and Biochemistry. The Department has been receiving funding from National Funding Agencies for their research programmes.
