1. Year of Established of the Department : 1968
2. A brief history of the Department :
The Department is organizing the M.Sc., Courses in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics. The Student strength in each course is 20. The course content includes special topics such as Graph Theory, Computer Programming, Numerical Techiques, Fluid Dynamics, etc., Appropriate teaching aids have been employed in the teaching-learning process. The examination process has been strengthened with frequent assignment programmes to test the student response.
The department organizes research work leading to M.Phil., and Ph.D., degrees in the areas like Functional analysis, Commutative Algebra, Mathematical Reliability, Fluid Dynamics, Numerical Techniques, Heat Transfer, Bio-fluid Mechanics, Geophysical fluid dynamics Pollution studies and Applications of Differential Equations. About 30 Ph.D., and 75 M.Phil., degrees were awarded under the guidance of the teachers. The faculty members have published more than 100 research papers in standard Journals and presented about 50 research papers at National and International conferences. Also they have served as resource persons at National and International conferences. The department has also organised National seminars on applications of Mathematics.
