Department of History

The P.G. Department of History since its inception in 1969 has grown to be one of the largest Departments of Humanities in Sambalpur University. Being a DRS Autonomous Department with rich museum, archives, palm-leaf manuscript library, photo gallery of illustrious sons of West Odisha, archeological facilities and with the dedication of teachers, scholars and students, it has assumed the shape of a big centre of teaching and research in History.

Many vital excavations and publications have brought to limelight hitherto unknown facets of history and culture of this region. It offers the best opportunity to students for a promising career in History.
