Department of Physics

The Department of Physics was established in 1949. Since its inception, department has excelled in the teaching and research in the field of Condensed Matter Physics, Material Science, Nuclear Physics, Electronics and Spectroscopy, both in theory and experiment. The University Grants Commission had granted the Department Research Support (DRS) phases I, II & III and COSIST programs to the department by identifying Condensed Matter Physics as thrust research area. In addition to this, various funding agencies have granted about 2.04 cores for supporting ongoing research activities of the department while, department has obtained approximately 3.5 crores, during last five years.
