The Department of Geography was established in the year 1952. It runs two parallel undergraduate courses in Science and Arts and post graduate course in Science. These include History of Geographical thought and Research Methodology, Geomorphology, Industrial, Agriculture, Population, Social, Political, Regional Planning and Development, Fluvial Geomorphology, Geography of Health, Geography of Oceans and Urban. The courses offered are revised at regular intervals to meet contemporary needs. The department has an excellent faculty profile with a rich spread of specializations. There is a healthy teacher-student ratio so that students receive personal attention which facilitates their learning and growth. Study tours are regularly conducted to enrich the knowledge of students and develop their geographical skills.
