Department of Historical Studies

In the annals of Madurai Kamaraj University, the year 1970 is a land-mark for only during that year the Department of Ancient History and the Department of Modern History were created with professor N. Subramanian and Professor K. Rajayyan as Professors of the respective departments. From the same years courses were offered in M.A., M.Litt and Ph.D Six years later, the department namely the Department was enlarged with the creation of one more Department namely the Department of Medival History.
