About Academic Staff College

Background, academic mission, and departmental profile

The Academic Staff College was sanctioned by the University Grants Commis-
sion, New Delhi in October 1987 under the New Education Policy,1986. The Academic Staff College has been established to organize training courses for in-service University/College lecturers in order to provide them opportunities for professional and career growth with an aim to improve the higher education in the country. The ASC aims at creating world class professional teachers, equi-
pped with latest state of the art tools and skills for the teaching line. The department provides training to the teachers of Higher Education so as to im-
prove the quality of teaching and research in order to meet the challenges of Global competition and inculcate values amongst the teacher participants pertai-
ning to morality, National integration, secularism, brother-hood and conservation of environment and ecology etc.
