Course Details:

The Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication (PGDJMC), is a one-year postgraduate journalism diploma course in India. The mass communication is the study of mass media and journalism. The aim of the diploma master’s study program is to teach honesty and progressive journalism to the candidates and to remove the evil of darkness and ignorance from the society.

The Journalism & Mass Communication study covers all types of medium used to convey information to the public. The study provides intensive theoretical and practical skills and knowledge in various media professionals ranging from the management of media organization to research and an integrated perspective of media functioning along with a fair amount of exposure to technical and analytical skill required for the media profession.

The master’s course prepares candidates to join News Organization like Newspaper, Magazines, Television and Radio, the study develops the skills such as managing online communication, interpreting data on public behavior, crowdsourcing for information, interacting with the public etc.

The study is focused on theoretical and practical aspects of Principles and Techniques in an academic discipline such as, Introduction to Mass Communication, Print Media, Reporting Editing and Specialized Writing, Photography and Photojournalism, Communication Skills, New Media Technology, Media Law and Media Ethics, Media Organization and Management, Graphic Tools, Radio & Television Production, International and Intercultural Communication.

Eligibility

The candidate have to complete Bachelor Degree like, Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor in Journalism & Mass Communication (BJMC) or any other Bachelor Degree with relevant subjects, or equivalent examination, with minimum aggregate 55% marks, such candidates are eligible to take admission in Master’s Diploma professional study program.

Course Duration / Learning Mode

This course requires study requires 1 to 2 years of the time period in India, It’s a Full Time professional diploma course, but some candidates use part time, correspondence education program and also go for distance learning study option to earn this degree.

Further Studies

After the successful completion of this course, candidates can also pursue the higher studies and do M.Phil (Journalism and Mass Communication), Ph.D. (Doctorate Journalism and Mass Communication), and specialization or research oriented work in their respective field.
