Master of Mass Communication & Journalism (MCJ), is a two years postgraduate Journalism degree level course of study in India. It's a valuable course in the field of journalism that opens many career scopes for the candidates after its successful completion.

The aim of the master candidates with good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to think and able to adapt learning technological changes, storytelling across the medium, writing across the platform, including web writing and copy editing, etc.

The study prepares candidates with the advanced communication knowledge and journalistic skills in various mass media, to explore recent development in issues and media research for strengthens the foundations for various technologies involved in mass communication and journalism.

The course of study is designed to provide in-depth knowledge, information, techniques and about the activities associated with Communication & Journalism, in a comprehensive manner. The study is focused on theoretical and practical aspects and principles techniques in an academic discipline such as Print Media, Media in India, Communication Theory & Research, Media Policy & Technology, Applied Communication, Specialized Communication, Media Appreciation & Research, Current Affairs & Social Issues, Communication Skills, Communication dimensions.

Eligibility

The candidate has to complete Bachelor Degree such as Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication and Journalism (B.Sc.MCJ), Bachelor of Arts in Journalism (BA.Journalism), or equivalent examination, with minimum aggregate 55% marks, such candidates are eligible to take admission in Master’s degree study program.

Course Duration / Learning Mode

This course requires study requires 2 years of the time period in India, It’s a Full Time professional degree course, but some candidates use part time, correspondence education program and also go for distance learning, study option to earn this degree.

Further Studies

After the successful completion of this course, candidates can also pursue the higher studies and do M.Phil in Mass Communication & Journalism, Ph.D. (Doctorate in Mass Communication & Journalism), and specialization or research oriented work in their respective field.
