The Physics family always prove role effort & shines like ever bright stars. With our sole an UG rank & 3 PG ranks, this academic year is started with encouragement. Our PG students T.Lavanya has got II rank & P. Maheswari have got 4th & 6th ranks respectively. Our UG student R.Ramya has got the 16th rank.

SEMINARS ATTENDED BY OUR STUDENTS

Our PG students participated in so many seminars at various places. A seminar on "Environmental Pollution" was attended at Indira Gandhi College, Trichy and also on "Renewable Energy" held at Srimath Andavar College, Trichy. National Science day was celebrated at SRC, SASTRA, Kumbakonam with our Young and energetic students and staff.

Our PG students have attended a Seminar on "Embedded System" on 3rd January 2007 in our college. Our U.G student Susheela vimala mary participated in a seminar on "Globalization among college students " from 5th to 7th September2006. She also Participated in a seminar as "Ulagath tamililakiya varalaru" inaugurated by A.P.J.Abdul Kalam at Coimbatore.

MICROBIOLOGY DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES

On 13.02.08 – Wednesday, in our Idhaya College for women, there was a seminar about “Bi Microbial Contribution in Bioremediation process” conducted by Dr. Ayyavu, M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D., Head of the Department of Biotechnology in A.V.V.M. Shri Pushpam College.

Head of the Department – Microbiology of Idhaya College for women, Mrs. Krishnaveni, M.Sc., M.Phil., M.Phil., darted the programme with her warm welcome speech. It is then followed by honoring of the chief guest by our secretary Agustina Mary.

Then the Chief Guest started his seminar. He explained us the causes of Bioremediation, role of microbes in it and their application. We have gained a lot of knowledge. Nearly 120 students. The program then came to an end with the vote of thanks by Selvi. S. Surya of M.Sc., Microbiology 1st year student. Thus the programme ended successfully.

On 01.08.2007 we had B.B.A. and B.Com, Department Association together Mr. Pratheep and Mr. Karthik Tally Academy India PVT Ltd, from Bangalore came to our college to present a Demo about the Tally Course. And also they gave information about the placement for the student if they study this course. The final year Management Student P. Manjula presented a paper presentation on the spot about “The History of Advertisement”.

On 22.08.07 we had B.Com and B.B.A. Department seminar together. Mr. Srinivasan Regional General Manager from Trichy and Mr. Narayanan Sales Executive from Trichy came to our college to present a demo about the Business Line Newspaper and also they gave information about the use of the newspaper for the students.

On 24.8.07 we had commerce and Management department seminar together Mr. SujoGanesh from “C future financial Services”, Kumbakonam came to our college to present a seminar about commodity Marketing & FISCAL services and also he gave information about Investment in shares, debentures savings in bank or Mutual Funds and Investment in commodity (i.e.) Gold, Silver etc.,

Mr. Sujo Ganesh “C Future Financial Services” Kumbakonam came to our college to present a demo about how and where to invest the money, How to earn profit through shares. And also we had question name round.

Seminar on Job Opportunities in Finance Accounts & Insurance

On 28.02.08 we had B.B.A. and B.Com Department seminar together. Mr.R.Kuppan from Genesis presented a Seminar on the topic “Job opportunities in finance accounts & insurance”. The Chief guests of the function were Rtn. PP. NPHF T.R. Swaminathan, Rtn. PHFI S. Murthi, the president of rotary club of East. The “Question Session” has been taken over by Mr. R. Kuppan, Mr. Sujo Ganesh & Mr. N. Arun Prasad Madhan. They answered patiently for the questions of students.

ENGLISH DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES

All Association activity was inaugurated on 25.7.07, with Mr. Manivel Dept. of Geology as the Chief Guest. Who delivered a lecture on humanism love and encouraged the students towards their achievement. It was succeed by the variety entertainment. As part of the Dept. Association Activity the Literary Association was held on 09.09.2007 with Mrs. K.R. Shakuntala Devi as the special invitee. Events like elocution and pointing was conducted for the students from various discipline. Painting – Indian culture. Elocution – Role of women in Administration Ms. Sivapriya was awarded the I place for elocution and Asha farveen – II BBA for Painting.

VALEDICTORY FUNCTION – REPORT

English Association Valedictory Function was held on 04.04.08. Dr. Noell, H.O.D., Dept. of English, Bharathidasan University was invited as Chief Guest. The function started with Prayer Song. Our Principal Rev. Sr. Sara Jasmine honoured our Chief Guest. Welcome Address was delivered by Nisha, III BBA. Idhaya's Nightingale's presented a group song. Dr. Noell delivered his lecture on “Importance of Communication Skill”. He highlighted some important ideas related to Communicati

One must never command according to the language, one must be humble to learn English Language.

One can learn language at any stage of his/her life time. Doing a course is not best way to learn language. One must properly acquisite language.

According to the context of global economy one must know English Language, Medium is not important to develop one's language. We can say that knowledge of Tamil is acquaintance of English. To develop their language one need to practice and to made hand work. Social interaction and practical interaction is an important modes to improve our language.

One must become humane only when we learn to communicate. What you have learn in the class that should be put into practice in the web of our life. We need to develop our linguistic personality. For human resource question English should be the part of mental make up.
Language must come from deep breath and final spirit of a human being. Communication Skill should be based on training like military food.

Mrs. Shakuntala Devi, Co-ordinator of communication skill, shared some ideas like how she had spend all these months effectively with our students, Our communication students stated some of their opinions, Certificates were distributed to the Communication students. The function ends up with National Anthem.

First English Literary Association

The first English Literary Association started at 3.00 pm on 25.08.01. Dignitaries Invited: Prof. John Bosco, Rajah Sarfoji College, Thanjavur. Topic of discussion : English Language – A Critical Perspective.

The Inauguration of the English Association

It was conducted on 05.03.03 with Mrs. Anne Mary Fernandez as the chief guest. She in her lecture highlighted the significance of Life and Literature.

Importance of English in the society

Mr. Sivaprakasam the additional chief guest offered valuable tips for the emerging students interested in learning English. It was followed by variety entertainment.

IV Inaugural Function

20.09.03 - For the IV Inaugural Function Rev. Sr. Dr. Philomin Mary FIHM Principal. Immaculate College of Education, Pondicherry was invited as the chief guest.

She insisted on the significance of Listening Skills in her Presidential Address.
She also insisted that a lively gathering is essential for a good lecture.
Listening enables Good Working and Grasping Power.
Spirituality is essential for a complete personality.
A good listener must activate, motivate and relate to the audience.
It was followed by the cultural activities like songs, dance, and drama.

On the whole the lecture reminded of the saying that :

To experience, and experience one has to be present to an experience.
16.06.05 - Bridge Course – 1 year

Find yourself,
Know yourself,
Be yourself.

With this regard the Department of English organized a Bride course for the I year candidates regarding effective communication skills with Mrs. Maria Mercy Amuda M.A. M.Phill, co-ordinated, Whole Brain Management as the resource person.
The Activities comprised of,

Preparing for an interview.
Methods and skills of Group Discussion.
Basic concepts of Grammar.
Word power Games.
Types of sentence, dialogue and articles.

It was followed by the movie review of the film “Larger than Life”. On the closing day all the individual candidates were evaluated on their written and oral skills.

Bridge course – I year-2005

The bridge course for the I year students started functioning from 05.07.05 – 19.07.05
With the following dignitaries:
Mr. Francis Xavier – Director Philomina's Spoken English Class.
Mr. R. Yesudoss – Founder and Principal, Fluency School of English.
The session comprised of activities like.

Adjective, Adverb learning.
Conversation practices.
Fluency skills.
Employment of the learnt communication skills.
Feed backs were obtained for betterment. Evaluation reports were gathered. Grammar items were presented through the medium of songs which was terribly innovative.

All Association Activity – Inauguration

24.09.05 - In a state of deep joy were beyond our minds.
Dignitary invited : Dr. V.Badrinath., Prof of commerce, Sastra College, Kumbakonam.
Topic : Relevance and significance of positive and scientific thinking of Effective communication skills.

He motivated the students to equip themselves with the recent advancement for a bright future. It was succeeded by entertainment.

01.07.06 – Mr. Gopinathamanikandam, co-ordinator E- square English Academy conducted the communication English classes for a set of nearly 150 candidates for duration of six months. Certificates were offered to the participants.

02.07.07 – Bridge-course
“Your success is conceived in the mind but your words give it life”. With this idea a Bridge course was organized for 10 days dealing with the various techniques of communication skills.

One is not born into the world to do everything but something.
The course is highly applicable to the above saying.

All Association Inauguration
It was held on 25.07.07 with Mr. Manivel, Dept. of Geology as the honourable chief guest. He delivered a lecture highlighting Love, humanism and the various modes of improving our knowledge towards progress. It was succeed by a variety entertainment of various departments. The Dept. of English offered an English song and North Indian folk score depicting the culture heritage of the North in all its varied colors.

Literary Output
The Dept. of English as part of the literary association organized an Elocution and a painting competition in the of presence of Rev. Sr. Jasmine with Mrs. K.S. Shakuntala Devi as the chief guest cum judge at 2.45pm on 07.09.07 at our college auditorium.

On 25.7.2007 our department inaugurated function was conducted. Dr. Manivel Dept of geology Bharathidasan University presided over the function.
Our department was conducted seminar on "Computer Application in Banking". The manager from C.U.B presided over the function.
The inaugural function for the certificate course "Hardware" was conducted along with the co-ordinates.
On this day "WIPRO" conducted interview for III year students. Our department students participated and G. Bavitiraa from III CS was selected.
Our department Exnora students went to Cauvery college Trichy and they participated in a seminar under the topic " GLOBAL WARMING" III computer science students were participated in that seminar.

The chief guest for the seminar were Mr. Mohan, President of state students Exnora chief guest Mr.K.P. Kanthaswamy ( Deputy Commissioner of IFS ) and Mrs. R. Sujatha the principal of Cauvery college. She gave the speech on Pollution and cause Greeen house effect.

On 23rd February 2008 our department students attended campus interview for TCS in sastra college in kumbakonam. Nearly 20 students were attended the interview.
On 27th February 2008 our students went to attend the competition in J. J. College of Arts & Science Pudukottai for the following events:-

On 1st, 2nd, 3rd November 2007, B.Shahin, A.Vinothini, A. Anbu Vidhya, N. Sasi Rekha, C.Sangeetha, S.Durga Devi and on 2nd Dec 2007, C. Sangeetha of PGDCA those students went to vallalar school and wrote the exams for the blind students. From 2007-2008 B.Pargavi of PGDCA has been elected as a sports minister.

On 25th Jan 2008, C. Sangeetha of PGDCA has won the 1st prize in the speech competition conducted by the RRC for the Republic day. C. Sangeetha won the 1st prize in the drawing competition conducted by the English department.

On 22nd September 2007 B. Pargavi has participated in folk dance competition conducted by Trichy Kalaikaveri. C. Sangeetha has participated in drama competition in Beshki communication and got the 1st prize.
