Department of Physiology

Physiology is the “science of the functions of living system”. Human physiology deals with the functions of human body. It tries to explain changes which occur in human body during life. Without knowledge of this subject various intricate and complexities of human body cannot be understood during physiological and pathological condition.

Department of Pedodontics

The Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry was established as an independent faculty in 2006. The postgraduate course was started in the year 2010 with intake of 3 pg students per year. The department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, located on the second floor of the main building , which divides to include an undergraduate and postgraduate clinic and preclinical UG & PG lab with its waiting lounge, staff chambers, library, special clinic, internet cabin and a special play room for the children.

Department of Orthodontics

The term orthodontics is derived from the Greek words: orthos meaning correct and odontos meaning teeth. Orthodontics is the first specialty which was segregated from general dentistry by Edward H angle, who is also known as “father of orthodontics”. Orthodontics mainly involves correction of crooked teeth. Our goal in the department is to create beautiful and healthy smiles.

Department of Oral Pathology

The department of Oral and Maxillofacial pathology and microbiology has about 60 microscopes for the undergraduate students. The department has got a well equipped histopathology lab for the tissue processing, wetting and staining of the biopsy specimens. Lab is also well equipped with instruments needed for blood examination.

The department of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery

The department of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery provides diagnosis, surgical treatment and management of surgical problems of face, jaws and mouth. The department is involved in training and practicing oral and maxillofacial surgery. The department also offers post graduate program in oral and maxillofacial surgery preparing the candidate for a fulfilling career in this branch. Our department facilitates innovation, collaboration and free interaction for global development of students, faculty and maxillofacial surgery.

Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology

The department of Oral Medicine and Radiology is situated in the ground floor near the main entrance with a clinical section, a radiology section. Computer section and record room and offices for the faculty and under graduate students. The department is well equipped with 19 dental chairs, radiovisography (rvg), dental x-ray units, OPG machine, clinical lab incorporated for various investigations.

Department of Community and Preventive Dentistry

The department of Preventive and Community Dentistry is dedicated to train the graduate and under graduate students in public health dentistry to work within interdisciplinary team to conduct investigation on the risk factor for oral disease and the use of oral epidemology method to study health outcome of dental service and oral health policy. Preventive and community dentistry is a subject design to help the students to explore professional ethics as they relate to dentist’s relationship to peer, patient and community. Students attend dental camps and perform initial screening examination.

Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics

The specialty of Conservative Dentistry deals with the prevention and treatment of disease, and injuries of the teeth. Here, disease or fractured teeth are restored with restorative materials that are biologically acceptable and a esthetically pleasing. Where as endodontics deals with the prevention and treatment of pulp and pariradicular disease and this specialty particularly strives to save an infected tooth and maintains its integrity in the dental arch. The main focus of this department is to restore the dental health and wellbeing of the patient.

Department of Anatomy

Anatomy is the study of the structure of the body. The students should gain the knowledge and an insight into the functional anatomy of the normal human head and neck, functional histology and an appreciation of the genetic basis of inheritance and disease and the embryological development of clinically important structures so that relevant anatomical & scientific foundations are laid down for the clinical years of the BDS course.

Department of Oral Pathology & Microbiology Oral pathology is the speciality of dentistry, which deals with the identification and management of diseases affecting the oral and maxillofacial regions. Department of Periodontics Periodontology or Periodontics is that branch of dentistry which studies the supporting structures of teeth, known as the periodontium, which includes the gingiva (gums), alveolar bone, cementum and the periodontal ligament.

Department of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics The department is spread out on 9000 square feet area on the second floor of Darshan Dental Collage. We have a separate post graduate clinic & an undergraduate clinic. There are separate cubical sections for the postgraduates to carry out the clinical work on the patients and to give them a feel of clinical experience.

Department of Pediatric Dentistry Paediatric Dentistry is the specialty of dentistry which is concerned with the total oral health care, both preventive & therapeutic, of all children from birth through adolescence. It also includes the oral health care of children with special health care needs such as those with physical, medical & behavioral disorders / disabilities. The specialty focuses primarily on the prevention of oral disease, achieved by active interaction between the dentist, the child & the parent.

Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics The branch of conservative dentistry & endodontics is an integral and important part of dentistry. The objective of the department is to train the students in this field to provide comprehensive restorative and endodontic care to the patients. The department runs undergraduate and post graduate clinics.

Department of Prosthodontics The department of prosthodontics deals with a wide array of problems encountered such as edentulism, partial loss of teeth, Temporomandibular Joint problem and crippling loss of Cranomaxillofacial structures and are treated using modalities such as complete dentures, Fixed prosthesis , Maxillofacial Prosthesis & Dental and Maxillofacial implants to name a few . The current focus today is on Esthetes and implants and the research projects carried out in our department focus on the less explored , but much needed aspects of Prosthetic Dentistry.

Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Oral and maxillofacial surgery is specialty concerned with the diagnosis and surgical treatment of acquired diseases, Dysfunction, Defects or injuries of the mouth, jaws, face, neck and adjacent regions. This department runs Undergraduate and Post Graduate clinics, operation theatre, and the wards in the college campus. Our Mission is to provide surgical services and patient care; contribute to basic research and train the future academic leaders of the profession.

Department of Oral Medicine Diagnosis & Dento Maxillofacial Radiology This is a specialty in dentistry dealing with : 1.Diagnosis and medical management of diseases of the oral mucosa, teeth, jaws and the salivary glands. 2.Medical management of oro-facial pain and temporomandibular joint disease. 3.Dental management of medical compromised patients. 4.Interpretation and evalution of radiographs, CT, MRI for diseases affecting head and neck region.

Department of Pharmaceutics Three well-equipped laboratories are there to perform Practicals of various subjects like Dispensing Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical technology, physical pharmaceutics, Drug technology & cosmetics, pharmaceutical Engineering & Unit Operation. These laboratories are equipped with special equipments for the experiment models of pharmaceutical industries. The students are also trained to study, formulate, label and dispense medications in specified dosage forms.

Department of Diploma In Pharmacy

This diploma offers a broad-based training in biological, chemical and pharmaceutical sciences. The modules will cover topics ranging from anatomy, physiology, pathology and pharmacology to drug manufacturing, medicinal chemistry, drug discovery and clinical trials. You will also learn how to run pharmacies through modules such as pharmacy practice, pharmacy management and logistics.

Our pharmacology lab is equipped with all the required instruments and animals to carry out the research activities by the graduates.

The laboratory of Pharmacognosy consist of a number of crude drug samples and their monographs which provide information regarding the natural drugs, their identification, cultivation, collection, preparation, chemical constituents, uses, identification tests, determination of possible adulterants and the detection of the same.

Department of Pharmacology : Alwar Pharmacy College has two sprawling laboratories for Pharmacology department where the animal experiments are carried out by both in-vitro and in-vivo procedures to understand the Pharmacodynamics and Pharmacokinetics of the drugs with the physiological systems of the animal body. Our college is approved by CPCSEA for conducting animal experiments and these experiments are conducted after the approval of the Ethical Committee as regulated by CPCSEA.
