K. L. Bajoria College has been established in the memory of Late KAMAKHYALAL BAJORIA, the founder of K. L. Bajoria Charitable Trust. It is approachable from different directions and is centrally located in Boyce Road, Shillong. The College stands next to the B. K. Bajoria Senior Secondary School, the only independent School in Meghalaya affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi.

The College is a private co-educational Institute sponsored and managed by a linguistic and religious minority non-profitable charitable Trust, registered under Indian Trust Act.

The Institution provides admission to all sections of students and seeks to give quality education to all making it a veritable example of National Integration. Students are treated equally and intermingle with a spirit of tolerance and friendship.

The College was formally inaugurated by His Excellency, the then Governor of Meghalaya – Shri. M. M. Jacob, on the 10th of July 2004. The College is under Section 2 f of the U.G.C. Act 1956- which means that it is a Self-financing, privately managed institution, which gets no fund or grants either from the UGC or the Government. After receiving the first Affiliation from North Eastern Hill University in June 2004, the College has been subsequently given Affiliation for both pass and honors till date. The College has now smoothly transitioned to the newly introduced Semester System as directed by the North Eastern Hill University.

The College has its own land and building. The ambiance is calm and quiet and is perfectly suitable for learning. The students have separate common rooms for boys and girls. Common rooms are well equipped with recreation items, such as Table Tennis, Carrom boards and other indoor games, etc. Teachers have an airy and spacious common room with lockers of their own. The College has a spacious and beautiful Auditorium. The college undergoes constant beautification and renovation. It also has two canteens run by Nescafe and a private enterprise, which supply wholesome and clean food to the teachers and students of the College.

The teachers are sincere and dedicated and well-qualified. All of them possess UGC norms and some are NET qualified while others are appearing for it. There are teachers who have doctoral degrees as well. The teachers attend Faculty development programs, refresher courses, workshops, and seminars whenever they get a chance to do so. The college facilitates whenever necessary. They are also given EPF and ESI benefits.

The number of classrooms is sufficient. They are spacious, airy and well-lighted. The Library has more than 3000 books plus reference books and is managed by a qualified Librarian. It has enough seating space for students and teachers. The College tries to procure books from different sources and has held book exhibitions in the premise which helped to increase the number of books in our Library. The College Library also has an e-book facility and teachers and students can access a large number of e-books and journals.

An inspection team of the Examination Department of NEHU had inspected the college on the 10th of September 2004 and subsequently approved the creation of an Examination Centre in the College. The College has now become a centre for Evaluation of NEHU Under Graduate Examinations. The results of the college have been consistently very good as we try to give quality education to our students. There have been students who have featured in the merit list as well.

The College has taken the initiative to start Vocational Certificate Courses in Spoken English and Fashion Design. This is the only, new private college which has taken the initiative to do so. Lately, it has ventured on its own and the departments are doing very well under the guidance of excellent teachers. The College has recently been associated with Meghalaya Aids Control Society MACS and has actively taken part in all the programs such as National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, International Youth Day, World AIDS Day, Street Plays, etc. The students have also taken part in arranging programs connected with Disaster Management. Some of our students have made us proud by achieving National and International recognition. They have participated in Meghalaya’s Youth Icon Competition, Poetry writing competition organized by North Eastern Service of All India Radio, Rovers Scout International Competition, etc and have won accolades.

Although academic excellence is the priority of the Institution, stress is given to inculcate a sense of discipline and a spirit of honesty and sincerity, which will give self-confidence to the students and stand them in good stead later in life and will also make them proud of their Alma Mater.
