Course Details:

The Master of science in Bio-Informatics (MS.Bio Informatics), is a two years postgraduate degree level course of study in India. Bioinformatics is the application of statistics and computer science to the field of molecular biology.

The aim of master study program is to provide competence in computational biology or bioinformatics by providing training in the areas of molecular biology, information technology, statistics and bioinformatics, it's a multidisciplinary course in field of genomics, proteomics, protein engineering, metabolic pathway engineering pharmacogenomics and also in discovery of new medicines, drugs and vaccines molecular diagnostic kits, agro-biotechnology that comprise the core of bioinformatics.

The study provides adequate skills to conceptualize, design and develop well-designed software, the database for biologist program and also develop a structural approach to biological data tools need to analyze the data.

The course of study is suitable for those candidates wants to increase their knowledge for accelerating their career by exploring and acquire a critical understanding of Bio-Informatics. The course of study is designed to provide in-depth knowledge, information, techniques and about the activities associated with BioInformatics, in a comprehensive manner. The study is focused on theoretical and practical aspects and principles techniques in an academic discipline such as BioMolecular, Object Oriented Programming, Molecular Biophysics, Fundamental of Bioinformatics & Information Technology, Molecular Cell Biology, Applied Biostatistics, Biological Database and Data Analysis, Phylogenetic Analysis, Computer Aided Drug Varsity & Informatics, Research Methodology.

Eligibility

The candidate has to complete Bachelor Degree such as Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) with relevant subjects like Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Zoology, Botany, Statistics or equivalent examination, with minimum aggregate 55% marks, such candidates are eligible to take admission in Master’s degree study program.

Course Duration / Learning Mode

This course requires study requires 2 years of time period in India, It’s a Full Time professional degree course, but some candidates use part time, correspondence education program and also go for distance learning, study option to earn this degree.

Further Studies

After the successful completion of this course, candidates can also pursue the higher studies and do Ph.D. (Doctorate in Bio-Informatics), and specialization or research oriented work in their respective field.
