Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) was established in the year 1976 by an Act No. 25 of 1975 of the Haryana Legislative Assembly in 1976. It is located in Rohtak, Haryana. The university is named after the saint Dayananda Saraswati. The university was given an “A” rating by NAAC in August 2013. The University campus is spread over an area of over 665.44 acres.
The university offers courses in a number of fields of study at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. The university has 13 faculties, 27 postgraduate departments and runs 77 academic programs on campus. There are 66 boards of studies for developing and designing courses. In addition to the main campus, there is a satellite campus of the National Law College (UILMS) at Gurgaon.
DU offers undergraduate engineering programs that awards a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree. The university also offers postgraduate programs that lead to Master of Technology (M.Tech), Master of Science (MSc) by research, Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Computer Applications (MCA) and doctorate (Ph.D.). The MSc and Ph.D. are research degrees while the rest are taught degrees. Colleges in the districts of Bhiwani, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Jhajjar, Mahendragarh, Palwal, Rewari, Panipat, Rohtak and Sonipat are affiliated with the university.
