RVS School of Architecture has been established in the year 2009 by the RVS Educational Trust under the Chairmanship of Dr. R. V. Kuppusamy . The school is located with in the Coimbatore city in an extensive two area campus on the Coimbatore – Trichy National Highway.
Approved by Council of Architecture – New Delhi this school comes under the wing of Anna University – Coimbatore.
Vision and Mission
Architectural education is primarily concerned with providing the students the highest of knowledge, skill and competence in the arts and science of architecture.
The school will work towards providing the students with practical and challenging training in the use of information technology that reflect the state – of – the – art architecture and establish a foundation for their practice in the future.
The school will also orient the students in the formation of high moral values and shape them towards leadership roles in the development tasks of community and nation building.
RVS School Of Architecture, Coimbatore offers various graduate courses as well as Post Graduate courses.
Course offered – B. Arch (5years) Full time.
Structure of the Programme
The Programme shall have a curriculum comprising of theory, theory cum studio and studio based courses with well – defined syllabi. The courses shall cover.
Humanities and Social Sciences subjects, Management subjects, Basic Engineering subjects and relevant professional courses.
There shall be a certain minimum number of core courses and sufficient number of elective courses that can be opted by the student. The blend of different courses shall be so designed that the student at the end of the programme would have been trained not only in the professional field but also would have developed as a socially conscious human being.
The curriculum structure of each semester shall normally be a blend of theory courses not exceeding 5 and studio based courses not exceeding 4. However, the total number of courses per semester shall not exceed 7.
The medium of instructions, examinations and project report shall be in English.
In addition, every student shall successfully complete:
A Practical training in the VII semester for exposure to architectural profession.
A thesis work in the X semester.
One compulsory educational tour apart from site/field visit.
NCC/NSS/NSO/YRC activities for character development.
ELIGIBLITY
Candidates for admission to the first semester of ten semesters B.Arch. Degree Programme shall be required to have any one of the following qualifications: • 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognised board with English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as a subject of study by securing 50% marks in aggregate.
10+3 Diploma (Architectural/Civil) recognised by central / state governments with 50% aggregate marks.
International Baccalaureate Diploma after ten years of schooling, with not less than 50% marks in aggregate and with mathematics as compulsory subject of examination.
Any other examination of any University or Authority accepted by the Syndicate of this university as equivalent thereto.
Notwithstanding the qualifying examinations the candidate might have passed, he /she shall also write an aptitude test as contemplated by the Council of Architecture in the minimum standards of architectural education regulations, 1983 and notified in the Gazette of India, Part III section 4, dated 28th March 1983 and 27th August 1983.
All admission to B.Arch degree course shall be subject to National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA). Conducted by Council Of Architecture.
The other eligibility criteria such as number of attempts, Physical fitness shall be prescribed by the Syndicate of the University from time to time.
The Candidate shall not have completed 21 years of age as on first of July of the year of application. For candidates belonging to SC/ST the age restriction is relaxable upwards by 3 years.
