1.From, where do the people in Madho’s village, fetch water for drinking?
Ans. People in Madho’s village fetch drinking water from the pond. The pond is very far from the village. Sometimes, they get water from a train that carries water. Sometimes, they are also allowed to take water from tanka.
2.Who fetches water in Madho’s house?
Ans. Madho’s sister and mother go to the pond to fetch water. Madho’s father goes to fetch water in his camel-cart. Madho goes to fetch water from the tanka.
3.Water collected in the tanka is mostly used for drinking. Why?
Ans. The water in tanka is filtered and covered. So, the water collected in tanka is mostly used for drinking.
4.Is rain water collected in your house as well?
Ans. No, the rain water is not collected in my house.
5.Can there be any other method of collecting water?
Ans. Yes, water can be collected in buckets, drums and tanks. It can also be collected by setting up rooftop water collection units.

6.Can you think of some other ways of saving water. Write your suggestions.
Ans. Some tips on saving water:
- Don’t leave tap open.
- Do not keep the tap running, while brushing your teeth and taking bath.
- Take a bucket bath, instead of shower.
- Use water left after washing clothes to water garden plants.
- Repair any leakage in the pipeline.
7.Can we use the water that has been used for one purpose for something else?
Ans. Yes, we can reuse water which was used for one purpose. For example; water after washing vegetables and clothes can be used for watering plants. This water can also be used for mopping.
8.Draw lines using different colours to show which work will be done after the other so that the same water can be reused. One example has been given.
