Ladakh Education

Ladakh became a Union Territory in 2019 when it was carved out of Jammu & Kashmir. The name Ladakh means "land of high passes" in Tibetan/Ladakhi language. The principal crops are barley and wheat. The overall literacy rate in Leh District is 62% and in Kargil District 58%.
