The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences was established in 1995 and has been Accredited by NBA. The department has switched over to credit based system (semester scheme) for B. Pharm. and M. Pharm. courses in July 2006. The intake of students in B. Pharm. course is 60. The admission to B. Pharm. course is made on the basis of state level entrance test conducted by the Haryana Govt. The intake of students in M. Pharm. course in four specializations is 50. Fellowship is available to first 30 candidates with valid GPAT score (Pharmaceutics:10, Pharmaceutical Chemistry:10, Pharmacology: 5 and Pharmacognosy: 5) subject to the receipt of fellowship from AICTE. The admission to M. Pharm, course is made on the basis of merit of GPAT scores. All the four specializations in M. Pharm. have been approved by AICTE, New Delhi. The department is also running Ph.D. programmes in all the four specializations w.e.f. 2002.

The department has well qualified and experienced faculty. The faculty members have published more than 400 Research papers in last 5 years in International and National Journals of repute. The department has on its expert's panel a galaxy of reputed academicians and professionals from pharmaceutical industries, who visit the campus regularly to deliver lectures and share their experiences upon latest developments in the pharmaceutical field. With in a short span of its existence, the department has equipped itself with adequate facilities required in a Pharmacy Institution. This department is one of the leading departments of Northern INDIA running UG, PG & Ph.D. programmes in Pharm. Sciences. The UG Programmes (B. Pharm) is accredited by NBA of AICTE, since Jan. 2007 & our PG courses are ranked within top 10 in INDIA. The following research activities are being carried out by the department.

Pharmaceutics division is engaged in the development of oral sustained release dosage forms, transdermal drug delivery systems, drug targeting, ocular drug delivery and pre-formulation research. Pharmaceutical Chemistry Division is engaged in Research areas of synthesis of pro-drugs, brain targeting, colon targeting, QSAR, Combinatorial Chemistry and development and validation of various analytical techniques. Pharmacology Division is engaged in Psychopharmacological investigations, Studies on Traditional Systems of Medicine, Screening of plants for memory enhancing, anti-anxiety, anti-psychotic, anti-parkinsonian, anti-ulcer, anti-inflammatory and antidepressant activities. Pharmacognosy division is engaged in phytochemical and pharmacognostical standardization of herbal drugs, tissue culture and emerging trends in herbal technology.
