The department of chemistry was established in the year 2002 with the introduction of a new course of M.Sc. (Polymer Science & Chemical Technology). This course is very important for both industrial and research institutions. The department has started research activities in the fields of Polymer Science & Chemical Technology such as Development of technology for recovering chemicals and useful products from polymer waste, Biodegradable plastics, Conducting polymers, Composites etc.
=> M.Sc. (Chemistry)
=> M.Sc. (Polymer Science and Chemical Technology)
=> M. Sc. (Biochemistry)
=> Ph.D. Polymer Science and Chemical Technology
=> M.SC. (Polymer Science & Chemical Technology) : Bachelor’s Degree with PCM/CBZ/Polymer Science/B.E. / B.Tech. (in any branch) with 50% marks.
=> M.Sc. (Biochemistry) : Bachelor’s Degree with PCM/CBZ/MLT and 50% marks.
For SC and ST applicants the eligibility conditions in respect of percentage of marks shall be relaxed by 5 % at the qualifying examination only and the requirement of percentage of marks in respect of all other examinations shall be the same as applicable to applicants of General and OBC categories.

Students holding Post-Graduate Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry and Polymer Science & Chemical Technology have opportunity to go for higher studies like m. Tech & Ph.D. and can do R & D work in Universities, Industries, Research organizations like DRDO, TIFR, CSIR Laboratories etc. Such students can find job placement in industries like Chemical, Polymers- Plastic, rubber, fiber, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, oil distillery, sugar manufacturing & distilleries etc.
