This new Department offers one compulsory and four advance elective courses to Under Graduate Students. A job oriented course on seed production is being also offered jointly with Department of Agronomy. Advance courses leading to M. Sc. (Ag.) and Ph.D. degree are also being offered.

Department Of Soil And Water Conservation

This Department earlier functioned under Faculty of Agricultural Engineering. The Department offers four advance elective courses on Soil and Water Conservation to selected B. Sc. (Ag. ) Hons. students. The Department also offers courses leading to M. Sc. (Ag.) Degree. M. Sc. (Ag.) Students work on different research projects and submit dissertation. Study introduced in the Department mainly included land degradation, watershed management, soil and land use planning, hydrology, water resources etc. Courses Offered => Bachelor Of Science (B.Sc.)

Department of Plant Physiology under the Faculty of Agriculture was created after quadripartitioning of the erstwhile Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding in 1999. Since its inception, this Department is catering the academic courses and research activities on basic and applied aspects of Crop Physiology.

Department Of Genetics And Plant Breeding

Visions of the Genetics are learning (enhancing access to quality education), discovery (expanding knowledge through research) and engagement (collaborating with diverse institution, communities and people to improve live). Important research and technology developed by the departmental scientists and out put which has been used in the commercial application are: a) three photoperiod sensitive varieties of capsularis jute b) one olitorius jute variety c) one tomato variety by mutation breeding d) two rice bean varieties and

Department Of Agricultural Biotechnology

The Department has been initiated in 2000-2001 session. Since its inception the Department offers two compulsory courses and one job oriented course to the undergraduate students. Four other courses are also offered to M.Sc and Ph.D students of sister Departments. This Department has started Ph.D programme. Regarding research acheivements the Department has standardized low cost protocol for large scale micropropagation of Musa and Carica. In addition to this the Department has completed DNA finger printing of some traditional Basmati and scented landraces of rice.

Established in the year 1995 this department offers full fledged Masters and Doctoral degree in Agricultural Meteorology in addition to one core and four elective courses at undergraduate level.

Department Of Agricultural Extension

This Department is functioning since 1962 and offer six compulsory courses in Rural sociology, Agriculture extension, Communication etc. to Under Graduates. It also offers courses to students of Faculty of Horticulture and Faculty of Agricultural Engineering.

Department Of Agricultural Economics

This Department is functioning since 1962 catered a good number of PG and UG courses and also conducting researches through Masters’ and Doctoral students. The Department offers five core compulsory courses to Under-Graduates and advance elective courses to selected Under-Graduates as preparative to the PG studies. M. Sc. (Ag.) and Doctoral students have conducted their researches in different aspects of marketing of agricultural produces like rice. Besides, the researches on residues of pesticides have been impressive and earned national and international reputation.

The newly created Department offers two compulsory courses and four advance courses to B.Sc. (Ag.) Hons. students. The Department also offers compulsory courses to B.Sc. (Hort.) students. A limited number of students are being admitted to the courses leading to M. Sc. (Ag.) and Ph. D. Degree in Agricultural Bio-Chemistry.
