This new Department offers one compulsory and four advance elective courses to Under Graduate Students. A job oriented course on seed production is being also offered jointly with Department of Agronomy. Advance courses leading to M. Sc. (Ag.) and Ph.D. degree are also being offered.
A good number of M.Sc. (Ag.) students and Ph.D. students have already conducted research and submitted dissertations. Their research work included relation between loss in seed viability and its biochemical degradation in sesame, lost cost protocol for large scale multiplication and production of synthetic seed to protect genetic erosion in orchids, and standardization of genetic transformation in rice.
