Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced dates for receipt of AIPMT forms. Last date for receipt of forms without late fees is 25th January 2012. Candidates can apply for the exam online at http://www.aipmt.nic.in/ and fill up the examination form. Payments can be done online or offline at any nationalized banks. The pattern of exam will be same. For more help students can contact - AIPMT at 011-22509256, 57, 58, 59 and 011-22059683. The preliminary exam will be held on April 1, 2012 .

Mumbai university is offering students dual degrees from the academic session 2012 – 2013. Students seeking admission in two different colleges need to get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the first college before applying for the second college so that Mumbai university is not responsible for clash of examination dates. The university has scrapped the decision regarding completing of engineering within 8 years tenure. S K Ukrande has decided to allow only those students to pick the course who are capable of doing it.

Mr Rajeev Shukla, Minister of Parliamentary affairs was honored with Doctorate degree by Amity university during the last day of convocation held at Amity Campus, Noida between 14th to 16th December 2011. During the last day of the convocation Mr Rajeev Shukla received doctorate degree of Philosophy (D.Phil) for his continuous effort at the national level.

S S Mantha, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) attended the 60th Convocation of Gujarat University as chief Guest. Mantha urged the university to go beyond books and educate students in extracurricular activities too. More than 60,000 students were awarded certificates which was embedded with a micro chip containing all information about the student.

Dr Ramdas M Pai to be honored with Datuk, A Malayasian award. He is the second person after Shahrukh Khan to gain the recognition. The award is given to individual who has given good service to Melacca state and to Malaysia. The recipient of the award is called “Datuk” and his wife “Datin”. Dr Pai was awarded Padma Bhushan this year.

Karnataka government has decided to introduce CBSE syllabus for 11th standard students for the academic year 2012 – 2013 while 12th standard students will have state board syllabus. The move was taken to groom students at par with the different competitive examination . Interim courses will be conducted for 10th standard students to help them cope up with the class 11th CBSE pattern of learning. Class 10th board exam will start from 1st week of April 2012 instead of scheduled date in March. The decision was takes to help teachers complete the school syllabus and help students in revision of courses before the exam. There was delay in implementing Samacheer Kalvi common syllabus and most students could not get books. So the board has rescheduled dates to combat this delay. Class 12th exam will happen on time i.e from 1st week of March 2012.

Aspirants who had appeared for Common Admission Test (CAT) 2011 had been waiting for results. The wait is going to get over and results will be declared on 11th January 2012. Qualified students will get dates for Group discussion and personal interview. The new year will provide relief to students who were stressed since long time for the results.

IIT Bombay to host 15th annual science and technology festival “Techfest 2012” from 6th to 8th January 2012. Techfest will host lectures from Venkatraman Ramakrishnan, Karlheinz Branderburg, David Griffiths etc. MIT Media Labs, Aldebaran Robotics, Disney Research will be participating in the event.

Podar International School, Santa Cruz in Mumbai has made Ipad 2 compulsory for students in the class. Vandana Lull School director- Principal believes Ipad will make teaching and learning very interactive and students will have to carry less burden of books. But the move is not accepted well by all the parents. Some parents believe that it may distract students and the normal mode of teaching is far more better than teaching with latest gadgets.

GMAT (Graduate Management Aptitude Test) has introduced the new section integrated reasoning in 2012. The question paper is being changed after 17 years. A lot of students appear in GMAT to get admission in good B-School. The new section, named Integrated Reasoning, will have four formats. Graphic interpretation , Multiple-source reasoning , Table analysis. For the first time, GMAT will provide candidates an on-screen calculator. This can be used only for the fourth format called two-part analysis.

IBPS (Institute of Banking Professional Services) has declared the results of Common Written exam (CWE) for PO ( Probationary officers) and management trainees. IBPS conducts exams for various nationalized banks in India.

Blind People's Association (BPA) and Ahmadabad Education Society (AES) has collaborated to form Education Research Development Center ( ERDC) at Chitrakoot. Central Board of Secondary examination (CBSE) has announced the date of All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT). The prelims will be held on 1st April 2012 and the main exam on 13th April 2012. This step was taken by CBSE due to postponement of NEET-UG ( National Eligibility cum entrance test for undergraduates). The AIPMT exam syllabus, exam centers and question pattern of the exam will remain exactly the same as it was in 2011.

AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) has launched CMAT (Common Management Admission Test) for getting admission in all B- Schools through out India for the academic year 2012- 2014 Education Promotion Society of India (EPSI), an association of B- School and Association of Indian Management Schools ( AIMS) have objected to the idea of a single entrance test.

The All India Postgraduate Medical and Dental exam is going to be held on 8th January 2012. AIIMS has issues notice for cancellation of NEET PG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post Graduate courses). Four new National Institute of Design (NID) to be set to meet need of Industrial Designers. The institute will be set up in Assam, Andra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana so that more and more youngsters take up designing course. The National Design Policy of 2011 is encouraging the creation of departments of design in all the IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology ), National Institutes of Technology (NITs) as well as private colleges.
