AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) has launched CMAT (Common Management Admission Test) for getting admission in all B- Schools through out India for the academic year 2012- 2014
Education Promotion Society of India (EPSI), an association of B- School and Association of Indian Management Schools ( AIMS) have objected to the idea of a single entrance test.
According to Supreme Court order AICTE can conduct CMAT along with 5 existing national level test CAT (Common Admission Test), MAT ( Management Aptitude Test), XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test), ATMA ( AIIMS Test for Management) and JMET (Joint Management Entrance Test, JMET has now been scrapped and IIT's use CAT score for admission to their B- School.
The decision is still pending with SC. B-schools have already registered themselves with either CAT, ATMA or XAT for the academic year 2012-14. Once the decisions are out the picture about CMAT will be more clear.
