A one day national seminar by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has been organised at the Department of Civil Engineering at Rajasthan Institute of Engineering and Technology (RIET), Bhankrota Jaipur recently. The seminar was focused on “The Importance of Standards in Education”.

The Russian Centre for Language and Culture (RCLC) of the School of Foreign Languages of Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science is pleased to announce the commencement of Russian language classes from Wednesday, 28th January, 2015 in the College in collaboration with the Russian Centre for Science and Culture, New Delhi (RCSC) and the Russian State University for the Humanities, Moscow (RSUH). Classes for the beginners’ level, RU-1 will be held in batches from 4-00 to 6-00 p.m. and 6-00 to 8-00 p.m. on alternate days, three days a week.
University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked all unviersities to implement grade system and semester system in curriculum from 2015 onwards. This move will impact 400 universities and 4 lakhs students. The move comes following a meeting last week between state education ministers and HRD minister Smriti Irani.
This new move by HRD will ensure students more flexibility to learn and ensure their seamless mobility across institutions.
The Career and Personal Counseling Centre of Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts Science, Margao is starting a course on ‘Kitchen gardening and Waste Management’ under the Honours Programme in ‘Life - Style Management’.
The course will cover Designing a kitchen garden, identification and management of insects, green house effect, organic composting, natural farming and non-pesticide management. Each topic will be conducted by experts from the respective field. Certificates will be issued to all those completing the course.
Odisha state is all set to get its first University exclusively for Women. Rama Devi Women's College, Bhubaneswar will be given the status of university, thus becoming first women's university in the state. Central government will release a lump sum of Rs 55 crore for the infrastructural development of the university.
