The Department of Education of this University began functioning from 1973. Its Mission statement is :
“Out of conviction that education is the means by which human circumstances can be improved, the Department of Education prepares professionals who have the commitment and competence needed to help people acquire the knowledge, skills and understandings to enable them to participate in and contribute to a complex changing society. To achieve this mission, the Department is committed to excellence in teaching, research and community services.”
Presently the Department offers M.Ed.; M. Phil.; and Ph. D. Programs in Education. The Education Department has six teachers of whom two are Professors, three Associate Professors and one Assistant Professor. Department has done substantial work in the field of research and extension. Few highlights are as below :
The Department organized two international conferences, one National conference and thirty state level school principals’ seminars (each of three days).
More than one hundred books are published by the faculty members.
Thirty two research projects were undertaken by the faculty members.
More than one hundred forty five students completed Ph. D. Degree from the Department.
Two staff members Dr. Shashikant Shah, Ex. Prof. & Head, was selected for the Career Award Scheme for young scientists and Dr. Ummed Singh, Associate Prof. was selected under UGC-Research Award Scheme for undertaking Major Research Projects.
Dr. Shah was also selected for the award of research fellowship of Indo- Candian Institute under which he visited Regina University of Canada for four months.
