Department of Bioinformatics

The Department of Bioinformatics was established in the year 2003. Our university is first of its kind to start post graduate course in Bioinformatics in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The DBT, Ministry of Science and Technology have approved a centre for Bioinformatics Infra Structure Facility in the Department of Bioinformatics of our University for the promotion of Biology teaching through Bioinformatics as a part of National Bioinformatics Network. Ours is the first medical institution in south India to establish a Bioinformatics centre approved by DBT, Govt. of India.

DBT has sanctioned Rs. 41.13 lakhs for establish Bioinformatics Infrastructure Facility (BIF) for improve Biology teaching through Bioinformatics (BTBI) programme under BTISnet to the department of Bioinformatics, SVIMS University, Tirupati.
