Social work is a human service and practice profession, which relates to a wide and complex range of human situations, calling for a versatile practice perspective and skill-based competencies. The social work profession broadly works for equity. Social justice, harmony and peace, mainly directing its activities to support the quest of the marginalized groups to meet their needs. In the current expanding scenario of poverty, globalization and liberalization, the curriculum of social work is basically humanistic, reconstructionist, and academic.
Master of Social Work post graduates have ample opportunities of job potentialities in human service professions and in Social welfare and development sectors. Such jobs include in the areas of Health and Mental health, women and child welfare, correctional institutions, welfare of the disabled, poverty alleviation projects, in rural and urban sectors, family counselling, HIV/AIDS control projects, child labour and street children projects, Personnel and labor welfare officers in industries, and in other national and international funded organizations viz., CSWB, APMAS, DFID, Care, ALLIANCE, UNICEF, CRY, USAID, ACTION AID, CASA, PLAN, WORLD BANK, CCF and SCF etc.
