Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics
The Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics came in to existence in the year 1964-65. Dr K C Chanda was the founder head of the department. A full-fledged Department of Physics came into existence in the year 1972 with Dr. S P Puri as the founder head of the department. The department offered Masters degrees in Statistics and Physics and Ph.D in Statistics. The Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics were again merged in 2001, in the process of reorganization of the university departments renaming it as Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics. At present the Master’s and Doctorate programmes are suspended in the department. The department offers number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses to other constituent colleges of the university. Till date 32 scholars and 130 students have earned their Ph.D and M.Sc degrees in Statistics while 95 students have completed M.Sc degrees in Physics. Besides teaching, the faculty of the department is actively engaged in research in the following thrust area.

Construction and analysis of designs for estimating the direct and residual effect of applied treatments.
