School of Energy Studies for Agriculture was established in 1984 for effectively planning and implementation of its programme of advanced training, research & development in the field of energy. School offers Ph.D. programme in Energy Science & Technology for the Post Graduate students with Agricultural Engineering background. The annual intake of the Ph.D. students is two. A number of research projects funded by various State level, National & International organizations such as: PSEB, PEDA, PSCST, ICAR, MNER, Dept of food, TERI, ABE, FAO/UNDP, SIDA etc. have been successfully completed. The current major research areas of the School are: Development of technologies for use of paddy straw, development of biomass gasifiers, bio-diesel production and its use in engines, application of remote sensing and GIS techniques for assessment of available biomass and location of collection/utilization centres.
