Department of Human Genetics
The Department of Human genetics was established in the year 1985-86 to provide comprehensive genetic diagnostic services to a variety of genetic disorders. It is imparting teaching/training programs for efficient manpower development in the specialty and also carry out research activities in basic and applied Human Genetics, with special reference to DNA based studies.
The department is providing rapid diagnostic cytogenetics investigations for a variety of genetic disorders referred from clinical departments like Psychiatry and Neurology right from pedigree analysis, dermatoglyphics, karyotying , molecular cytogenetics studies ( FISH) and Genetic counseling.
