Master of Physiotherapy in Sports Physiotherapy, is a two years postgraduate Physiotherapy degree level course of study in India. The study is designed to prepare candidates who are able to deal with injuries and issues related to athletics. Experts in sports physiotherapy help athletes to recover from injuries and provide solutions for resources to prevent the problem.
The aim of the study program is to prepare trained and qualified physiotherapist to treat and fully rehabilitate the athlete post injury, post operatively, to prevent further injury and to return the athlete to sport in the shortest possible time. The master professional study emphasized on the research methodology to impart knowledge in clinical therapy evaluation, clinical reasoning, diagnosis and treatment techniques in a specialized manner.

The course of study is designed to provide in-depth knowledge, information, techniques and about the activities associated with Sports Physiotherapy, in a comprehensive manner. The study is focused on theoretical and practical aspects and principles techniques in an academic discipline such as Research Methodology & Biostatistics, Communication Skills, Review of Care Science, Physical & Functional Diagnosis of Sports Injuries, Sports Biomechanics, Sports Psychology, Exercise Physiology and Nutrition, Athletic Training and Emergency Management, Management and Ethics in Physiotherapy.
The candidate has to complete Bachelor Degree such as Bachelor of Physiotherapy or equivalent examination, with minimum aggregate 55% marks, such candidates are eligible to take admission in Master’s degree study program.
Course Duration / Learning Mode :
This course requires study requires 2 years of time period in India, It’s a Full Time professional degree course, but some candidates use part time, correspondence education program and also go for distance learning, study option to earn this degree.
After the successful completion of this course, candidates can also pursue the higher studies and do Ph.D. (Doctorate in sports physiotherapy), and specialization or research oriented work in their respective field.
