Genesis
In 1955 the department started as “Department of Animal Husbandry and Hygiene” under the Kerala Veterinary College. When the Kerala Agricultural University was formed in 1972 the name was changed to Department of Animal management. In 1986 when semester system was introduced in undergraduate teaching programme it was again renamed as Department of Livestock Production Management. PG programmes started in 1972 and PhD programme in 1980.
